Air Nnape?

Just now, is perhaps, the very first time in my life where I finally earn my mother’s trust to drive her to the town as she needs a haircut. According to my house’s rule, driving license from the Roadway Transport Department is not as important as a driving license from my mother. Although it is clearly against the constitution, but the rule still implies.

Nothing is actually more beautiful than driving besides your mom, in the midst of the scorching June, crossing the havoc and jammed city of Kuala Terengganu, while listening to her updates on the latest news of the kampong folks.

We enjoy ourselves as we cursed the Terengganunese at our lefts and rights, who were violently terrorizing the traffic law. Maybe this sounds simple or rather pathetic, but it is actually sweet and honourable to be your mom’s driver.

The best sound I have ever listened to would be my mother’s scream whenever i massage her legs. It made me feel that I am doing the right thing and touching the right spot, though I don’t really have any idea on whatever I am doing.

The best house chores would be cooking for your mother, and listening to her yells afterwards as she found out the mess you left behind in the kitchen. This is the beauty of life.

Gosh, I love my mi madre.

p/s: “Air nnape?” is loosely translated as “what drink?” in Terengganunese accent. It is derived from the phrase “Air mende ape?” or “Air ape?”. This question was comes from a cashier guy in Giant, where I bought a citrus drink for my mother.

"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor.

And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood'

(The Holy Koran 17:23-24).
